Autumn Break 2012

This autumn our annual trip away will be to Whitby on the East Yorkshire coast. We are taking full board accommodation at the youth hostel next to the abbey, overlooking the sea. You can find their website by clicking on this link:   YHA Whitby

We will travel up by train to Whitby on the morning of the 7th September, and return on the afternoon of the 11th September.
The idea is to do a couple of walks in the Esk valley, to do a walk by the sea to Robin Hood's Bay, and to have a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to Pickering.

Photographic Social

This year's event will take place on Friday February 24th at 3.30 p.m. at Morley College. We're pleased to say that we will have nine contributors and we thank them all for their efforts.
There will be a prize awarded for each category as usual. After the main event refreshments will be served.

Club Centenary

In May 2012 our club will - unbelievably - celebrate its centenary. We are holding a special celebration lunch at Morley college in honour of this momentous occasion with special guests. We hope to see as many members as possible in attendance.

We have already gathered together quite a lot of information about the club since its inception in 1912 using the Morley Magazines and other sources, and we will be bringing some of this material together for a Centenary publication.
If anyone has any photos or slides from across the years we would be very pleased to see them.
Watch this space for more information!

Autumn Break 2011

In September 2011 our annual trip away was to the Peak District. We took full board accommodation at the youth hostel at Gradbach Mill, not far from Buxton. You can find their website by clicking on this link:   YHA Gradbach Mill

We travelled up by train to Macclesfield on the morning of the 5th September, where our coach picked us up and took us to the hostel. We returned on the afternoon of the 9th September.
Our main walks were firstly the beautiful Dovedale valley, followed by the famous Roaches escarpment, including a visit to Ludd's Church.
We also had a visit to Chatsworth House and a few shorter walks.

Autumn Break 2010

In September 2010 we had a very enjoyable 5 day trip to Pembrokeshire (near St Davids) from the morning of Thursday September 9th to the evening of Sept.13th.
We took exclusive hire of the Old School Hostel in the village of Trefin. We walked two sections of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, did a walk in the beautiful Preseli hills, and had a visit to the nature reserve on Ramsey Island.
The Hostel included two and three bed rooms. You can have a look for yourself by following this link:   The Old School Hostel

There was a village pub that did evening meals, we self-catered two evenings and had a wonderful meal at The Old Cross Hotel in St. Davids.
